The Department of Neuroscience at the University of Florida (UF) invites applications for a research-track Associate Professor position. We seek an innovative scientist who specializes in invasive neurotechnology and cognitive neuromodulation, aiming to complement and expand our research areas, which include neurodegeneration, traumatic brain injury, neurovascular diseases and cognitive and psychiatric vulnerabilities across the lifespan. The successful applicant will conduct outstanding independent research and is expected to develop a strong extramurally funded program. The Department of Neuroscience and the broader UF neuromedicine community is highly collaborative. In addition to developing an independent research program, the ideal candidate would further have a strong interest in participating in larger programmatic opportunities. Finally, this individual would further be expected to contribute to the educational mission of the department, which would include teaching and mentoring of graduate students.

The Department of Neuroscience in the College of Medicine is the second-oldest neuroscience department in the country and ranks among the top 10 in NIH research funding. The Department offers a rich academic environment in molecular, cellular, and systems neuroscience.

Commensurate with experience

Required Qualifications:
- MD or MD/PhD in Neuroscience or a related field, with a focus on neuromodulation or invasive neurotechnology.

- Proven track record of conducting both independent and collaborative science, including a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals within the field.

- Innovative scientific approaches, a commitment to develop an extramurally funded research program

-A commitment to advancing the field of neuroscience with a focus on clinical applications and translational research.

Preferred:
Successful applicants will have demonstrated excellence in research productivity and evidence of, or potential for, extramural funding.

Integration of machine learning/AI approaches in research program
