Job Description

A postdoctoral position is available to study the pathogenesis of liver injury, inflammation and fibrosis in the contexts of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD). This project will address how iron metabolism is impaired in MASLD and ALD that, in turn, induces organellular dysfunction (e.g., mitochondrial and ER), metabolic reprogramming, and cell death (e.g., ferroptosis) that collectively promotes the progression of MASLD and ALD. The prospective candidate will have the opportunity to use conditional knockout and knock-in mouse models, primary hepatocyte and Kupffer cell culture, state-of-the-art techniques including but not limited to scRNA-seq, proteomics, and metabolomics, and multiplex imaging. Potential candidates are expected to have previous experience working with rodent models and cultured cells, and strong background in molecular and cellular biology. Experience in studying liver diseases and/or iron metabolism is highly preferred. Candidates who are strongly self-motivated and obtained their PhD or MD/PhD within the last three years are encouraged to apply. Please send a brief cover letter, CV, and the contact information of three referees to Dr. Peijian He, Associate Professor of Medicine, Emory University Department of Medicine at [email protected].
