Job Description

Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Staff Scientist to lead and advance research using human-derived experimental models of disease, including iPSC-based systems, organoids, and multi-tissue platforms. The Staff Scientist will play a central role in experimental design, execution, data integration, and mentoring, while ensuring rigor, reproducibility, and continuity across complex, long-term projects. This position is ideal for a scientist who enjoys deep scientific ownership, collaboration across disciplines, and translating human biology into mechanistic insight and therapeutic relevance.

Job Duties

  • Design, execute, and optimize experiments using human cellular models of disease, including iPSCs, brain organoids, and engineered tissue systems
  • Lead day-to-day scientific operations for one or more research thrusts, ensuring technical excellence and reproducibility
  • Integrate multi-modal datasets (e.g., transcriptomics, metabolomics, imaging, functional assays) in collaboration with computational and analytical teams
  • Mentor trainees (students, technicians, postdocs) in advanced experimental techniques and scientific reasoning
  • Develop and maintain standardized protocols, quality control pipelines, and documentation for human model systems
  • Contribute substantially to manuscripts, grant applications, and progress reports
  • Collaborate closely with clinicians, bioengineers, computational scientists, and external partners
  • Support translational efforts, including disease modeling, biomarker discovery, and therapeutic testing
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctoral Degree. Experience may not be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Three years of post doctoral research experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD (or MD/PhD) in neuroscience, cell biology, stem cell biology, or a related field
  • Extensive hands-on experience with human iPSC-derived models and/or organoids
  • Experience with disease modeling, neurodevelopmental or neurodegenerative disorders, or metabolic disease
  • Familiarity with multi-omics approaches, spatial biology, or advanced imaging
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary environments bridging basic science and translational research
  • Prior contributions to high-impact publications and funded projects
  • Strong background in experimental design, data interpretation, and scientific writing
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing to team-based science
  • Commitment to rigor, reproducibility, and mentorship
