Job Description

Summary

Provides oversight and support for the administrative and financial operations, as well as the research and regulatory compliance activities, for multiple foundation funded projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in leading microbiology-based projects and working with mouse models. The position also requires a leader that is socially adept and can interact successfully at multiple levels: directing and listening to the project team, college project leadership, and with foundation program management. People skills are anticipated to be key to the success of this position and to its contribution to the projects as a whole. Professional training in soft skills would be an asset.

Job Duties

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of foundation funded activities and integration of Research Projects and Cores
  • Assists PI with oversight of professional level employees, to include conveying of work responsibilities and prioritization, conveying performance expectations
  • Participates in pre- and/or post-award grant management activities
  • Serves as a liaison between college leadership and program staff at foundation
  • Creates and maintains electronic systems for tracking progress and milestones (projects and cores)
  • Coordinates outreach and communications to internal and external stakeholders
  • Assists in the writing and submission of periodic progress reports, including the annual progress report to the foundation
  • Provide input into strategic planning and resource allocation decisions for the program. Report to and coordinate with college project leadership
  • Performs other job duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in biological or related sciences.
  • Experience working in host-microbe interactions with technical expertise in anaerobic microbiology.
  • Experience supervising research operations at the project level.
  • Industry experience.
