As a Cook, you will cook and prepare a variety of food for patients, caregivers,special eventsand visitors, ensuring patients receive their mealsin a timely mannerand care is takenregardingdietary restrictions and food safety. This isa great opportunityfor an individual who has a passion for customer service and cooking. It can also be a steppingstone to other roles such as becoming a leader.
A caregiver in this position works8-hourshiftsMonday-Friday between5:30AM – 8:30PM,including rotating weekends and holidays.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Review menus and special orders todeterminetypes and quantities of food items to be obtained and prepared.
Follow standardized recipes in preparation of all foods.
Plan cooking schedules with a supervisor and/or dietitian.
Ensure that all foods are prepared to meet existing standards for quality, freshness,tasteand appearance.
Confer with dietitiansregardingmodified diet preparation and use of leftovers.
Adhere to HACCP guidelines in food storage, food handling, food preparation,sanitationand maintenance of work area.
Ensure that all cooking equipment and utensils are inspected andmaintainedfor cleanliness and proper orientation.
Detect and report spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies and equipment and other unusual conditions.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Sufficientpreviousexperience in large scale food preparation
Knowledge of cooking methods and procedures, including types of preparation and related routines
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
HighSchoolDiploma or GED
Two years of related experience
Training in institutional food preparation
Prior restaurant kitchen experience
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to manipulate objects for tools, reach with hands and arms, stoop and lift or move objects up to 75 pounds.
- Position requires normal or corrected vision.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $15.25
Maximum hourly: $19.60
