Job Description
The University of Tennessee Health Sciences College of Dentistry in Memphis is seeking a highly motivated General Dentist to join the Department of Diagnostic Sciences as a part-time non-tenure Open Rank Professor. The successful candidate must be license-eligible in Tennessee and will play a critical role in advancing the department’s mission of excellence in education and patient care.

Responsibilities
Supervise the clinical activities of predoctoral students in the areas of diagnosis, oral medicine, oral radiology, health data collection, and related disciplines.
Develop and deliver innovative teaching materials and methods to enhance student learning outcomes.
Mentor and advise students.
Oversee and guide students in clinical settings, ensuring high standards of patient care.
Diagnose and manage oral health conditions, including systemic conditions with oral manifestations.
Integrate evidence-based practices into course content and clinical training.
Opportunities to engage in scholarly activities such as research, publications, or presentations at professional conferences.
Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and other service activities within the college and university.
Strong clinical skills in oral diagnosis and management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
Ensure high-quality teaching that is integrated, innovative, evidence-based, and compliant with CODA accreditation standards.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: DDS, DMD, or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE: Prior teaching experience in a dental school setting is preferred. Strong track record of excellence in teaching, service, patient care, research and scholarship preferred. Specialty skills in general dentistry, oral medicine orofacial pain, oral pathology, and oral and maxillofacial radiology.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Active or eligible for a dental license in Tennessee.
