Summary
The Eberlin Laboratory in the Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Research Technician I to perform routine elements of laboratory tasks management that requires the use of basic technical and laboratory skills. The Research Technician I will be a motivated, organized, and team-oriented individual who is comfortable working with other scientists in a research laboratory focused on translational biomedical research.
Job Duties
- Prepares materials and supplies for laboratory research experiments.
- Maintains research instrumentation (e.g., mass spectrometers and 3D printers).
- Produces and develops research devices (e.g., mass spec pen devices and sources).
- Maintains the organization of the laboratory.
- Orders supplies.
- Keeps timely organization of all orders, invoices, and other documentation on research accounts required for purchasing.
- Organizes laboratory activities, including weekly group meetings and other gatherings.
- Interfaces with clinical providers to receive and send samples, including surgeons, pathologists, nurses, and doctors.
- Performs the routine elements of research work that requires the use of skills, technical and academic knowledge to follow established procedures and record results.
- Assists research staff in conducting research experiments.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- One year of relevant experience.
