Psychology Tenure Track Position – Fall 2027

Rank: Faculty
Tenure Information: Tenure Track
Job Description
Sarah Lawrence College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in clinical psychology beginning in the fall of 2027. Competitive candidates may have a research and practice focus primarily in adult and/or in child clinical psychology. Candidates are expected to be able to teach in both areas. Intersections with contemporary social, cognitive, and affective neuroscience are especially welcome. The ideal candidate will be able to connect their research and teaching to different cultural/global contexts. Competitive candidates might have experience working with qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods, and/or community-based participatory research methods.
This position will include teaching both undergraduate and master's level graduate students in lecture and seminar classes at introductory and more advanced levels. A full-time position involves teaching two 5-credit courses per semester. Seminar courses are typically capped at 15 students and include a seminar class and biweekly meetings with individual students to develop a semester-long independent project which usually takes the form of a substantial literature review or other form of independent research project conducted under the instructor's guidance. Lecture courses, capped at 45-60 students, also include small group meetings. In addition, we expect that some courses might involve supervising students doing course related fieldwork in community settings or at our campus laboratory preschool.
Sarah Lawrence is a small liberal arts college with a dynamic and holistic curriculum, designed to foster students' capacity to develop a program of study that is unique to them. We therefore welcome candidates who are intellectually versatile and well rounded, interested in designing and teaching a wide range of courses, including those outside of their area of expertise, and willing to advise students of diverse interests, backgrounds, and trajectories. The position is teaching-intensive, involving two courses per semester. Beyond class instruction, each of these courses includes a significant component of individualized or small-group work with students. We encourage candidates to familiarize themselves with the basics of this distinctive pedagogical model before applying (The Sarah Lawrence Education: Explore Without Limits | Sarah Lawrence College), and to indicate in their letters how they envision working in this format.
Application materials should include: a cover letter, curriculum vitae, course descriptions for two proposed courses, a sample course syllabus, a statement of teaching philosophy that incorporates how diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging inform your work, two samples of scholarly writing, and three professional references who will be contacted for a letter of recommendation upon submission of the candidate's application.

We welcome candidates at all levels; this position may also include the possibility of an early tenure review for candidates who already have tenure.
Compensation listed for this position is for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position. The final salary will be determined based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, including the nature and extent of relevant teaching experience.
