Job SummaryOverview of Role
The Special Initiatives Coordinator serves as an integral part of the professional staff within Student Leadership & Involvement (SLI). They serve as a professional staff member who is responsible for developing, managing and maintaining the logistics of Campus Connect including but not limited to development, implementation, improving utilization, and promotion of Campus Connect for/by Recognized Student Organizations, SLI departmental and divisional efforts linked to Campus Connect. Campus Connect (www.campusconnect.utah.edu) is a student engagement software serving a large community of over 700+ student organizations. The platform also serves as a hub for student events and engagement data tracking efforts. This software is provided by a contracted third-party (Ready Education).
The SLI office is a very fast-paced environment providing leadership and involvement opportunities for all students. SLI is also responsible for the recognition, registration and training of 700+ Recognized Student Organizations. This position works collaboratively with the SLI Director, Executive Director for Student Engagement & Leadership, AVP for Strategic Initiatives, University Analytics and Institutional Reporting (UAIR), and a variety of campus partners to harness Campus Connect for real-time engagement management and data tracking, in order to creative transformative engagement opportunities that result in high-quality, developmental opportunities for all students across campus.
The incumbent will report to the Director of Student Leadership & Involvement.
Overview of Student Leadership & Involvement
Student Leadership & Involvement (SLI), supports student wellbeing and success by providing spaces for student advocacy and engagement. We strive to help students become the core of their learning experiences through co-created leadership and involvement opportunities that cultivate a sense of belonging and empower personal growth.
Student Leadership & Involvement (SLI) serves students by providing leadership and involvement opportunities within the department and by connecting students to these types of opportunities on campus. Whether students are interested in starting or joining a Recognized Student Organization (RSO) or participating in a Leadership Development program, SLI is here to facilitate these important connections. SLI is a department within the division of Student Affairs at the University of Utah.
Responsibilities
1. Oversee daily operation, management, and oversight of the University of Utah’s Campus Connect Platform and Campus Connect app.
2. Work closely with a team of Student Affairs divisional representatives and University Analytics & Institutional Reporting (UAIR) to facilitate and maintain student engagement data collection efforts and any other divisional/institutional efforts related to Campus Connect.
3. Support the promotion and adoption of Campus Connect across the university community, including but not limited to; conducting outreach meetings participating in university committees, building departmental pages, and running feasibility studies to assess a variety of use case scenarios.
4. Develop and deliver in person, virtual, and pre-recorded trainings across campus to aid in user adoption.
5. Communicate and collaborate with our third party vendor (Ready Education)to resolve issues and explore expansion of Campus Connects features and utilization options.
6. Prepare reports on Campus Connect utilization and adoption across campus.
7. Supervises student staff who also works to support Student Affairs and University wide integration and utilization of Campus Connect.
8. Monitor, evaluate, and approve all Campus Connect workflows including but not limited to event approvals, New RSO applications, survey and form approvals, RSO Equipment Reservations, RSO Storage space requests, etc.
9. Manage equipment inventory and associated processes to aid in attendance tracking efforts (Wifi hotspots, card tap machines, iPads, etc.).
10. Aids in the development and maintenance of “tracks and checklists” and “badges” for various programs in Campus Connect.
11. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for one year of related work experience), plus one year of directly related experience
Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content. Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.
